The best free things in Las Vegas are the Bellagio fountains, which run every 15 minutes from 8pm to midnight, and the light shows on Fremont Street's canopy, at the top of every hour from 6pm to 2am. The Bellagio Conservatory next door costs nothing to walk through, but it closes November 8 to 13 for its holiday changeover. The Flamingo's wildlife habitat is free until 8pm. After dark, add the Wynn's Lake of Dreams and the Eiffel Tower light show, both every 30 minutes. Bellagio to the Wynn is about 25 minutes on the sidewalk.

The free sights still running in October 2026

Most free things in Las Vegas are shows on a schedule. The fountains and the Fremont Street canopy run to the clock, the Wynn and Eiffel Tower shows start at dusk, and the Flamingo habitat closes at 8pm.

Schedules from Bellagio, Fremont Street Experience, Flamingo, Wynn, Paris Las Vegas, AREA15, Downtown Container Park, First Friday and Circus Circus's own pages, checked October 17, 2026. Each venue says times can change.

The Bellagio fountains and Conservatory

The fountains are the one free show worth planning an evening around. Bellagio's schedule: Monday to Friday, a show every 30 minutes from 3pm to 7:30pm; Saturday, Sunday and holidays, every 30 minutes from noon to 7:30pm; then every 15 minutes from 8pm to midnight every day. Bellagio says the schedule may vary and that the outdoor show can be cancelled for weather.

Visit Las Vegas's free-things page says the fountains run every 15 minutes until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays. Bellagio's own schedule ends at midnight on every day of the week, so don't count on a late show after a dinner reservation.

A construction note for this fall: Fox5 reported that the sidewalk along Las Vegas Blvd from Flamingo Rd to Bellagio Dr is closed for the fountain-club build through November 9, 2026, and the Review-Journal put the end at the close of December. The fountains still run; expect a detour along the Boulevard side of the lake until the work ends.

The Conservatory is a 14,000-square-foot garden room next to the hotel lobby, on the right as you face the front desk. Bellagio's page lists no admission, and there has long been no ticket. AAA lists it as open 24 hours outside the changeover weeks; Bellagio doesn't publish hours. The display calendar matters more than the clock:

DisplayDates
Harvest (fall)Sept 19 to Nov 7, 2026
Closed for changeoverNov 8 to 13, 2026
HolidayNov 14, 2026 to Jan 2, 2027
Closed for changeoverJan 3 to 8, 2027
Lunar New YearJan 9 to Mar 6, 2027

Bellagio says the dates are subject to change.

Fremont Street's canopy shows

The screen over Fremont Street is 1,375 feet long, and Fremont Street Experience now calls it The Canopy. Many lists still use the old name, Viva Vision. Shows play at the top of every hour from 6pm to 2am, seven nights a week, alternating Music Reels (The Killers set runs 6 to 7 minutes) and Fremont Films. Fremont Street Experience lists no ticket for them.

Downtown Container Park, at 707 Fremont St, is the easy add-on: open-air shops and restaurants, a playground with The Treehouse, and free concerts and movies on the main stage. October brings Yoga in the Park on Monday nights. It lists no admission.

The rest of the free list

My pick for a free daytime stop is the Flamingo Wildlife Habitat. Flamingo says "no reservation or ticket is required" for its 4 acres of gardens, which hold Chilean flamingos, brown pelicans, koi, sturgeon, turtles and hummingbirds. A keeper talk runs daily at 10am, and the habitat closes at 8pm.

The Wynn's Lake of Dreams show runs every half hour from dusk, nightly, on a 3-acre lake with a 45-foot waterfall. Watch from the free North Show Terrace. Paris Las Vegas lights the Eiffel Tower every 30 minutes from sunset to midnight. Las Vegas clocks go back an hour on November 1, 2026, so from then on both dusk shows start about an hour earlier by the clock than in late October.

AREA15's line is "Free to enter. Free to explore." The art installations, sculptures and Art Island cost nothing; the rides and experiences don't, starting at $31 for an Access Level 1 pass. Meow Wolf warns that guests under 21 leaving after 10pm may be asked to leave AREA15, so families should go earlier.

Circus Circus still runs free circus acts in the center of the Midway "throughout the day." It doesn't publish the times or days. I wouldn't cross town for it on spec.

First Friday in the Arts District is a free evening art walk. The October edition was October 2, 5 to 11pm, at 1025 S 1st St, with a free park-and-ride shuttle from the city garage at 500 S Main St from 3pm to midnight. November 6 and December 4 should be next, though neither is posted yet.

The Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign is free to visit, with a small free lot in the median of Las Vegas Blvd at 5100 Las Vegas Blvd S that you can only reach heading south. No official page posts hours. On foot it is about 12 minutes south of Mandalay Bay along the Boulevard.

Seven Magic Mountains, the stacked painted boulders near Jean Dry Lake, is also free with no reservation, but it is about 21 miles from the center Strip, roughly 35 minutes by car. The Nevada Museum of Art says it is open through 2026. The day trips from Las Vegas guide covers it with Red Rock and Hoover Dam.

Gone but still in older guides

Lists dated 2026 still send readers to these four:

SightWhat happenedWhat's there now
Mirage volcanoLast eruption July 17, 2024, the night the Mirage closed; demolished, per Hard Rock in January 2025Hard Rock Las Vegas and its guitar-shaped tower, due in 2027
Mirage–Treasure Island tramStopped in mid-2024 with the Mirage closureReturn not confirmed
MGM Grand Lion HabitatClosed at the end of January 2012, after opening in 1999The lions went to Lion Habitat Ranch in Henderson
TropicanaClosed April 2024, demolished October 2024The Athletics' ballpark, set to open before the 2028 season

One more to doubt: the Fall of Atlantis show in the Forum Shops at Caesars isn't mentioned on Caesars' own Forum Shops page, so don't build a walk around it.

A free walking route along the Strip

The center of the Strip, Bellagio to the Wynn, holds most of the free shows within about 25 minutes of sidewalk. The times below are measured walking routes on the Las Vegas Blvd sidewalk at a steady 3.2 mph, with no stops. Getting out from a casino floor adds time.

LegWalkTimeFree stop at the end

The STRAT to Fremont Street1.90 mi36 minThe Canopy (take the Deuce instead)

Pedestrian routing measured October 17, 2026, between points on the Las Vegas Blvd sidewalk in front of each resort.

The order I'd walk it on a weekday: the Flamingo habitat in daylight, before its 8pm close. Then the Bellagio Conservatory, then the fountains once they switch to every 15 minutes at 8pm. Cross to Caesars and the LINQ Promenade, carry on to the Venetian, and finish on the Wynn's North Show Terrace for a Lake of Dreams show. Bellagio to the Wynn is 1.27 miles, about 25 minutes of walking, so the stops set the length of the night.

The catch is the bridges. Bellagio and Caesars Palace sit 0.24 miles apart in a straight line, but you cross Flamingo Rd on a pedestrian bridge, which makes it 0.46 miles. The Venetian to the Wynn is 0.59 miles for a 0.40-mile gap. The county's September 2, 2026 escalator list had one Flamingo escalator (Ole Red to Bellagio) out of service with no return date, and north-side Flamingo sidewalks are partly closed for pedestrian-bridge work this fall.

In October, with an average high of 81°F, a low of 60°F and five or six days of 90°F or more, any hour works. July averages 25.8 days of 100°F or more and a low of 82°F, so walk after dark and expect it to be warm anyway. See the best time to visit guide for every month.

A free evening

Start at the Conservatory around 7pm and stay for the fountains, which go to every 15 minutes at 8pm. Walk 25 minutes north to the Wynn for a Lake of Dreams show, then take the Deuce Downtown and catch a Canopy show on the hour. A 2-hour Deuce pass is $6, and the Canopy runs until 2am.

Cheap but not free

Getting Downtown is where a free night usually starts costing money. The Deuce bus runs 24 hours down Las Vegas Blvd to the Fremont Street Experience, with stops at most Strip resorts and at the Welcome sign. A 2-hour pass is $6, a 24-hour pass $8 and a 3-day pass $20. The Monorail ($5.75 a ride as an eTicket, $6.25 at the station) runs on the east side of the Strip only and doesn't reach Downtown.

Walking the Venetian's indoor Grand Canal Shoppes is free; the gondola is the paid part. Indoor rides are $39 per person, or $34 on special-price dates (October 20, 21, 27 and 28, and some November and December dates). The outdoor gondolas close for the season from October 26, 2026. I'd pay the $39 only for the photo.

The High Roller wheel at the LINQ is the cheapest big view. A daytime ride (noon to 5:59pm) is $23.50 at the box office, $34.75 from 6pm, plus taxes and fees, and one turn takes 30 minutes. The things to do guide covers the paid sights, and the helicopter tours guide the night flights.

Common questions

What time do the Bellagio fountains stop?

Midnight, every night. Bellagio's own schedule runs shows every 30 minutes from 3pm on weekdays (noon on weekends and holidays) until 7:30pm, then every 15 minutes from 8pm to midnight. Visit Las Vegas says the fountains run until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays; Bellagio's schedule doesn't show that.

Is the Bellagio Conservatory free?

Bellagio's page lists no admission price, and there has long been no ticket. It does close between displays: in 2026 the Harvest display runs to November 7, the Conservatory is dark November 8 to 13, and the Holiday display runs November 14 to January 2, 2027.

Is the Mirage volcano still erupting?

No. The Mirage closed on July 17, 2024, and the volcano erupted for the last time that night. It has since been demolished. The site is being rebuilt as Hard Rock Las Vegas, with a guitar-shaped tower due to open in 2027.

What time are the Fremont Street light shows?

At the top of every hour from 6pm to 2am, seven days a week, on the canopy now called The Canopy (Fremont Street Experience renamed it from Viva Vision). Watching is free.

Can you walk the whole Las Vegas Strip?

You can. Mandalay Bay to the STRAT is about 4.3 miles on the sidewalk, about 1 hour 20 minutes at a steady pace with no stops and before any time inside the resorts.

How do you get Downtown from the Strip cheaply?

Take the Deuce bus, which runs 24 hours along Las Vegas Blvd to the Fremont Street Experience. A 2-hour pass is $6 and a 24-hour pass $8. Visitors need these Strip fares: RTC's cheaper residential passes only work on the Strip routes with a local ID. The Monorail doesn't go Downtown.
